I switched from another provider recently due to their own issues on their back end. I assumed that switching to Start would fix this. The ping is substantially better as I don't have the same consistent issue, at the same time, for 2 hours every night. However, what is happening is I am getting daily disconnections, and lost packets / ping issues while I game at night, and the wife said she has been kicked off her work ftp 4 times over an hour or so (work is reporting to her it was on our end she was booted) during the day.
I have tried the following. (also swapped to a much improved router before my switch to Start, so this shouldn't cause any issues as this didn't change anything before). This is happening on 2 desktops and a laptop, as well as a our smart tv (both wired and wireless had this same issue)
Reset modem
Change network cables
Get rid of the network switch
Reset modem again
Reset my router to factory
Connect directly to modem
Rent a modem from Start to rule out that mine was the issue
Reset modem
Swap cables again...
Connect directly to modem
Reset modem again...
I have already had rogers come out once when I was with the last provider and they said my stats were great. No noise / etc. Since I've been with Start, rogers has rejected coming out due to things like the signal looking fine on their end. I have tried to catch the random loss of connection, plus other stuff but because it's so quick, I can't. I get booted from a game, and bam, within 2-4 minutes it's back to working. I just ran about 900 total pings while gaming to try and catch this nonsense (as I've been told rogers needs this to even look at the issue?!??!), submitted even logs of the modem, etc. What else would help me figure out what is going on? Start said that rogers wont look at third party logs so I think that's out.
Thoughts?
