Why does the Hitron CDA3 need a power reset each time cogeco has an outage but other modems just come back online?

Not receiving advertised speeds?
I am on the 120mbps package, but am only receiving (roughly) 70 to 85mbps. Test after test, configuration after configuration those are the results I get. Below you will see the 'Connection' tab of my TC4300 modem. Not quite sure if those numbers are good or bad though, so you be the judge. All I know is my speed is definitely not as advertised.

[rCable] Multiple IPv4 addresses?
When debugging a previous modem, I noticed it said something about having support for two computers (sorry for the vagueness, it's been a while).
Does that mean it's possible to get two IPv4 addresses on rCable?
And I don't mean from two routers behind a switch; I'm in the process of setting up a brand new custom-built Debian-based router with a heavily virtualized stack (i.e. total overkill), and if I were able to get two IP addresses, it would allow me to do some interesting things with security and QoS.

New London Facilities / Data Centre
As sort of discussed here and there, we definitely have a lot going on - some of the things we can't share dates yet, but we're at a point where I can post some progress on our new building and data centre in London. Last year we started the process of re-purposing a previous metal distribution office/warehouse, into what will become our new London facilities sometime in 2018. This project is running in 2 phases, with the 1st phase now permitted and underway.
Phase 1 - New Data Centre (2017 Q3)
Phase 2 - New Company Headquarters (2018 Q3)
The data centre is a fully redundant 1.5 MW facility, hosting not only our own equipment for the London region headend, but also space for customer colocation services. Everything you'd expect here, N+1 cooling, A+B UPS, A+B generators, 110/208/480V service options, raised floor, diverse entrance paths for fibre, diverse MMR's, etc. Walls just started going up this week, pictures in next post.
Phase 2 is still at permitting stages, but the plan is to add a 3 story building in front of the existing 1 ½ story warehouse – for a total of 80,000 sq.ft. when completed. In addition to the data centre and a small’ish retail store, it will be home to our growing team. Once we break ground, I’ll post some pictures of that progress.

Strange IPv6 and Windows Update Issue
I've been troubleshooting an issue for about a week now where Windows update times out unless I turn off ipv6. I'm using 6rd on rcable and my router is pfSense. Here is a list of what I have tried so far:
- rebooted modem
- rebooted router
- rebooted all computers
- different dns servers (tried 8.8.8.8)
- updated to latest version of pfSense
- removed all traffic shaping
One thing I've noticed is that pinging download.windowsupdate.com using start's dns servers sometimes gives me an ipv6 address (2600:1622:0:2a1::68c1:4529) where everywhere else I tested on the internet it seems to always gives me an ipv4.
General internet usage doesn't seem impacted and ipv6 works fine to all my usual sites that support it.
Yesterday I tested at another location (they also use start and 6rd) and they are having the same issue. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if anyone has any suggestions at what to try next?
Thank you,

When does the new 150/50 speed kick in?
Hi all,
I'm a current 100/10 cable subscriber and received the note a few days ago from Start about the free upgrade to 150/15 sometime over the next 30 days. Just curious how fast this is rolling out and if I'll need to reboot the modem and whether my IP will change or not.
Thanks Roca!

[DSL] Can't access Office Outlook
I can't access my business email address using the Outlook Office web address from home on the network Start.ca
I am getting a DNS error
"login.microsoftonline.com’s server DNS address could not be found."
However, I can access the website if I use a vpn ( which is an anonymous vpn not my company vpn).
Is there any issue with Start DNS and Microsoft Outlook access?
Thank you.

Considering switching - should I go Cable or DSL?
Hi,
Planning on dealing with Bell retentions and if unsuccessful, switching to Start.
I am trying to price everything out (modem, router, etc.) but am unsure if I should go DSL50 or Cable 60. Both are $60. As a Bell/TekSavvy customer I have always gone DSL.
Are there any advantages of choosing one over the other?
Thanks.

[rCable] Connection goes bad every few months
Start 60/10 service, DCM476 modem. Every 30 to 120 days, the connection will go to utter crap. Excessive latency, packet loss. Anything internet related becomes unpleasant to use. Check out the attached DSLReports line monitor graphs. Only power cycling the modem fixes the problem, and then it goes away for weeks or months until it rears its ugly head again. It's not a router issue. Modem signal levels are +10 to +12 dB downstream and 39.3 dB upstream. I must remember to check signal levels when this happens again.
I'm going to call Start support about this issue, but anyone seen anything like this before?

New Broadcom based Rogers TPIA modem available?
I see on a competitors website that they have listed the TP-LINK TC-7650 modem which is supposed to be a broadcom based DOCSIS 3.0 modem for Rogers. For those wishing to avoid the Puma based modems is this an option for the loyal customers at Start? :)

Start TV Update
As you may already know, we’ve been in the late stages of internally testing our Start TV service over the past few months.
Unfortunately, the bugs have been taking too long to fix and common features that we expected to be available have been more challenging to implement than they should be. We’re all disappointed here at Start, but ultimately the product isn’t good enough to proudly put our name on at this time.
The good news is that there have been many advancements in other middleware platforms (the software that holds all the components together) since we started this journey. We’re working with two other well-established vendors to find the best fit for us to deliver the polished service and positive customer experience you’d expect from Start.
This will set us back a few months, but for us it’s important to deliver an amazing service rather than rushing to launch something before it’s truly ready.
I know this isn't what anyone hoped to see when they saw the topic get posted, but it's important to know that this isn't starting from scratch. All our content/licensing agreements, transport, equipment, etc, etc, etc, are all in great shape and it's just a matter of circling back on the software side to make sure that the experience and roadmap forward is awesome.
Thanks all.

Big Red Cable offer
So Rogers came to my door, offering me $75/month with free modem rental @ 150 Mbps speeds. This is what I love about Start. When I check the site, they offer the same speeds, for the same price, when you factor in modem rental fee's, and way better customer service. You don't have to deal with "Bob" from India/overseas.

Thanks for the fibre!

We had our installation recently and we're enjoying our new connection.

[DSL] Oakville DSL
Just thought I'd leave a note here for everyone to check the advertised packages in your area.
I wasn't getting my advertised speeds (50/10) for the last few weeks, only to go to Start's service availability and see that my package is no longer offered, and the top speed in the area is 25/10 (with 25/3 being the estimated speed).
I just spoke to customer service at Start and they said Bell's lines can no longer handle the 50/10 speeds in my area, so they were downgraded. I'm not blaming this part on Start obviously, but I've been paying full price for my 50/10, haven't been receiving it, and they didn't bother to tell me. That irked me a little.
I'll most likely be cancelling unfortunately, because switching to the cCable lines would cost me ~$100 for a new modem (or $5/month to rent). Installation I'll have to pay if I stay with Start, or go to Cogeco.
Options are now the following (buy cost of a modem built into installation for simplicity): https://i.imgur.com/DI92hyM.png
So if I wanted to base this off of first year costs, I could switch to Cogeco, and pay $60 more over the course of a year, and get 250/20 compared to the 120/10 Start can offer.
Anything I'm missing here? I'd hate to leave, but it seems like I have no choice when Cogeco owns their own lines for the 250Mbps and up speeds. Yes, I could just go for the 60/10 cCable from Start for a similar price to what I am currently paying, but I'd prefer faster speed, especially when cable is known for it's dips during peak times.

Issues in Kitchener
Been without internet for several hours. No phone to call in. Any help would be great.

[Internet] High intermittent ping spikes
For the last 2 months or so ive had high intermittent ping spikes, most noticeably while gaming. Same issues across any game i try. In games where pings usually hover around 25-35 depending on time of day they often intermittently spike to 60+ for several seconds. This is usually much worse during peak times, I dont often notice in off peak or if i do its far less frequent.
About a month and a half ago i contacted support after noticing my modem levels were out of spec 13++ a tech came and installed something that reduced levels to around +7,8 but the issues persisted. I swapped to a new modem and the issues still persist. After all this I contacted support who have been pretty useless blaming everything from my Nic, computer cables ect. But i have tested it across multiple devices and experience the same issues as well as trying different cables ect.
I contacted tier 2 and said it could be congestion.
My questions is 1. Does this seem to be an issue of congestion?
Here are the modem levels. And pingplotter showing spikes.
